The experience that inspired my 30-year career:
In 1994, a student at the Acupressure Institute gave me a 45-min session of Tui Na, Shiatsu, and acupressure.
By the end of my session, my body felt like it had been turned 180-degrees on the table at some point but, when I opened my eyes, I was surprised to find I was in my original position and wondered when she moved me. It took a moment to realize I never moved.
When I stood on the floor again, my body had the odd sensation of extending into an invisible buoyant cloud ~3 feet around me. I was floating in the heavens, yet more grounded and centered than I recalled ever feeling before.
The next moment, my entire being felt struck by a thunderbolt of certainty: Learning how to do this for others was what I was born for. And it felt like I slipped into a parallel universe where infinite possibilities had been waiting for me to "arrive."
Soon after I started training there the next year, I learned that novel experience is what it feels like when we've achieve balance.
